I have not heard anything about the walters, but I heard a fish tale about a 40"+ pike at the Algonquin dam last weekend.

The bite should start to pick up in the next couple of weeks. I'm ready to hit the river from Yorkville south. That stretch of the river has always produced nice eye's for me.

Yorkville and south was really good from 2006-2010 then absolutely died. The past 2 years have been slowly getting better again- they must have stocked it a few years ago. Caught some nice 2-3 pounders last year.

2011 and again in 2012 they stocked I believe 40,000 fry each year. I do agree that there were a couple of slow years but last spring it was on for me. Average was around 17 inches but my biggest was 22 3/8. Best presentation was split shot and gold hook with half a crawler or gulp minnow 3-4 inch on a jig head.
