anyone care to weigh in on this. been running my 75 freshwater community tank for probably 7 years with a sunsun cannister and undergravel filter with powerheads. seems like most people i talk to have gottten away with using them. any imput is greatly appreciated. should mention that im not having any issues, getting ready to change up some things, gravel change out so while its all down trying to figure out if im going to put it back. thanks

Personally I have run under gravel on most of my tanks. Once you establish the bacteria growth you can't find a better or stronger biological filter. I ran a Fluval FX5 and an under gravel on my 200 and the tank was always crystal clear and the fish did fantastic.

I 40% water changed and vacuuming about every thirty days and the tank remained stable and the fish healthy.

They work well as long as you keep them clean. Let them get dirty and they're a tank-killing nitrate bomb waiting to be disturbed.
