I hit the west branch, @7am, with the fly rod and black Boogle Bug and had a great time. This is the first time that the smaller fish were the odd ones and that I caught 5-6 in the 16+ size in the first 90 minutes. The working method was to let the bug float with the current (mending the line) versus being aggressive with the popper. The bigger fish just rose and inhaled. I had 3 that leapt clear of the water several times during the fight. Even the occasional rock bass were big for their species. I took a few photos but somehow only the first photo uploaded (all are in the 2.55MB size so they should be okay).

Good to see you back in the water Chuck.

Thanks for the report.

I think the black on the fin tips is a result of the spawn. They should be wrapping up and everything should be ready to do the post-spawn chomp on that river at this point. At some point I'll pick up a fly rod chuck, you've inspired me.

You will kill them and have a ball doing it.
I still cannot figure out why my other photos don't load. When I select the photo and hit continue, I get 0 successfully uploaded. They are about the same byte size so I am stumped.

I love how red their eyes get during the spawn! Thanks for sharing.

I want to thank Tom, who took the time and effort, for posting my photos. He had no problem uploading them. So, is it my 2006 era Hp or WOW internet. I don't know.
Well, I took to the Duper, yesterday morning, and took one palm-sized bluegill. That was it after 1.5 hours. Noting like fly casting practice on the river.
