Love the topwater bite for large mouth. Especially like walking a Spook or Spook Jr. This season I had some luck fishing for smallies with a smaller popper and am thinking of adding to my topwater collection for the DuPage. Wondering if the Spook Jr is too big and if I should consider the Zara Puppy. Anyone have experience with these? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. :thanks

Don't know about little spooks but we used to do pretty good with Heddon tiny torpedo's.

Have one of those as well and actually caught my first fish in the DuPage using it.

IMHO, the puppy doesn't perform as well as the spook. I also tried fishing it on a medium light spinning rod, instead of a medium heavy casting rod for the spook. The difference in tip action may account for the performance difference. That said, I love a tiny torpedo, skit-r pop or a pop-r for smallies, depending on how aggressive they are.
