Finally got around to using the tadpole diver. Very happy to see it runs straight down allowing me too see the running depth on my sonar and that the drag was minimal allowing the use of spinning gear. Only drawback is that the tadpole absorbs all the vibration from the spinner rig I was running, making it difficult to tell when I had picked up weeds etc. Definitely going to pick up a few more.

Do you use these on a straight line or can they be used with a planner board?

They can be used with planer boards, I believe they come in different sizes as well.

I love using the tadpole divers, been using them on Erie for last couple of years. I fish them off a straight line off my corners when I have a couple boards out of each side, but yes, they can be used off boards too.
They come in four sizes 1,2,3 and Magnum. They are very speed specific so you have to know if you're going 1 or 1.5 mph as the depths will very greatly. Example : A model one size with 150' of line out will be down
46 ft deep at 1mph, you go 1.5 mph and you are down 28 ft with the same amount of line out. Just make sure you have a dive chart with you and you could put your bait right where the fish are. A good comparison can be found here https://www.fishusa.com/product/Off-Sho ... ng-Weights
