Fellow flyfishers,
I've been fortunate enough to flyfish all over the world. I love being able to cast to game fish in saltwater flats and marshes. I've had a blast fishing for seabass in Tokyo Bay.
I cant find any guides that offer a similar approach to Lake MI waters. Is it possible? It seems like we should at least be able to cast for smallies, and drum from a skiff. Does anyone have any leads for me for someone who uses this approach?

Try Indigo guide service up in Northern MI. I think they offer trips on Traverse bay.
Captain Austin from Grab Your Fly was running trips locally, but I haven’t seen him recently. The best local spot was the Bailey generating station in Porter, Indiana but they shut it down a year or two ago. The B/P discharge in Whiting is still open and accessible by boat or shore. You can definitely get it done there or in any of the harbors. The carp will take pretty regularly pre or post spawn, but when they’re actively spawning they just swim around in frustrating herds ignoring everything.

Try calling Orvis on Ontario in Chicago - I've spoken with them a lot about fly fishing for carp in the harbors. They may be able to recommend someone

Thanks for the pointers! Seems like this option is not heavily explored here. As I figure it out, I’ll post.
