Does anyone use a 10 gauge anymore? How much of a difference is it compared to the 12 gauge?

Yes, not sure of the quantified difference between a 10ga and a 3.5" 12ga. I'd only shoot a 10ga if I was hunting geese exclusively. If I can't kill a bird with the 12ga, its too far to be shooting at anyway.

Here's an interesting read that was forwarded to me by a hunting buddy....

https://www.americanhunter.org/articles ... paign=0816

I use a 12 ga with 2 shot when on combo duck/goose hunts.... When shooting decoying birds, 2's fit the bill perfectly as an all around shot size. Just my humble opinion.

The Ithica is a great gun to shoot. But does not do much more than the 12ga except put more pellets out there. Choice is yours.

My old man uses an Ithica 10ga for geese, but I've never shot it. I just use a 12ga Remington 1100 for everything. I've also heard of people using 10 gauges for fast moving divers on the coasts.

I use it on geese and it is excellent. I have browning Gold 10
It kicks much less than a 3.5in 12ga
There are great ballistics articles on them in Wildfowl

Do you need it to get your birds or the extra range NO. a 12ga is plenty

But I got mine as a gift from my Dad and it shoots great. You will appreciate the range on them. The 3rd shot when the geese are out 50yds or birds you have sailed make the 10ga really nice.

Great guns. Have shot a Browning heavy 10 for years. They are worth it.
12 ga are fine guns but they are not a 10ga. Spend the few extra $ and get a ten. If you are spending $ for12ga 3 1/2 your not far out f the 10ga ballpark.
Rogers sporting goods always good deals on ammo.
no 3 out of 10 ga is great on ducks,
If you want you can cleanly kill birds birds with a 20 don't even need a 12ga, but I like the 10ga. Why drive a four or six cylinder in your pick up when they put v8s in them
