I can't imagine it's very safe at this point. I put the ice gear away last weekend. I'm not one to risk it for a few fish. Nights have been above freezing for a week now, basically, and days in the 40's and 50's with high winds, and quite a bit of sun. Those conditions just eat up ice. I'll be standing in my boat this Sunday on open water at my club, chasing first ice-out crappies. Gotta do some repairs on the truck Saturday first, though. Can't help you with an ice report, though. I don't live up that way.

Thanks. With the high winds predicted for almost the next week, it looks like I will be stowing mine as well.

Was out there yesterday. Went out of Mentones early and ice was good, 5" at it's best. Came in around 2PM and went thru at the shoreline, thankfully in shallow water. Lot's of open water at the bridge going to Marie and getting worse.

Sorry to say but it's over for the season for me. I would not try again.

Okay, so if I ever plan for an ice fishing trip, I'll have to aim for January or February if I don't want to take risks... By the way, was this winter as warm stateside as in other countries? Because where I work in Russia, it's been anormally warm, we had snow for less than 2 weeks, and I wore my fall jacket most of the time. I really wanted to go ice fishing as I've been doing for the last couple years, but I was kept home by a comparative market observation report about these flats in Cannes anyways, so it's not much of a loss!
