I am a new member here trying to look for pointers and fishing reports. I am in my early thirties now and looking to take my kids out on the weekends to catch bluegills and stuff on worms. Starting them off young at 2 and 4. I used to fish a bunch in high school with my dad. He still fishes I kind of got to busy for the sport and left it. Then about a month ago my dad and I did a Lake Erie Charter for Walleye and had a blast so now I am back in it again. I wake up early and fish for a couple hours before work at dawn. I live in South Elgin so I think my best bet is the Fox River which I have never really done river fishing before so I will be looking for some pointers. Also if there are any good lakes near South Elgin that would be great to know about. I know about the Pratt Wayne Forest Preserve. Actually just tried Mallard Lake for the first time this weekend and for fathers day I did three Oaks in Crystal lake. I am glad to be part of the forum and hope I can contribute as I start getting back into it more.

Starting the kids fishing young is a great idea. Bring snacks, make short trips at first, and let them tell you when they want to move on to something else. Great time spent together, and hopefully they pick it up and it lasts them a lifetime.

Welcome to the site.

Tom

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I have already gotten some good pointers and shared some fishing reports. I think I am going to like this forum.
