Has anyone mounted a bow mount to there kayak? I am thinking about adding Motorguide ti3 for big water or river fishing. My ride is a Jackson Big Rig.

That is a ton of weight/bulk to add to a kayak. Also bow mounts aren't meant to be easily removed. Their installation is permanent for the most part.

It's an idea that seems to work on first glance, but is killed off pretty quickly when you look into it.

This is the set up I have found. The Big Rig has like a 450 to 500 lb capacity and I do not load a lot of gear. just was checking if anyone tried it or if I am the Guinea pig. I think this motor is 45 lbs plus the battery.

I paddle a Big Rig as well. The bow doesn't really have a good spot to mount a trolling motor. That big front hatch takes up most of the front. The stern, however, offers some options. There are mounting holes for a PowerPole setup that could be used for a trolling motor.

The issue I see is deploying the trolling motor and pulling it back up. I personally don't have the balance and sometimes struggle getting around my 18' boat with an extra guy and gear laying around.

Thanks for posting on this. I have purchased a used minnkota all terrain 12v from a guy Matt that upgraded to 24v. looking at mounting options I would limit front hatch access like ll_aiia_ll. Not a big deal for me. Now that water access is opening my install will be sooner rather than later. Updates with pics to follow. Fingers crossed.

ll_aiia_ll that mount looks great. Super clean and efficient. :respect ......And now for something completely different. This is version 1.0 for test purposes only.

My motor mount is 2ft long with the motor down and 4ft with the motor up. Just too big and heavy. I pieced this together and used the grab handle mount to attach it. No holes drilled in kayak yet. Plan is to test it out and modify as needed. Original mount may be modified during winter to about 1/2 the size if needed. $170 in just having some fun and keeping busy. I will update in a few months to let ya Know how it goes.
