As i understand, a few days back the morels popped under ideal conditions. However, my question is...How long will those morels last through this cold snap (The ones that were not foraged). Only been a handful of times and was wondering if i would be wasting my time hunting for them in this cold. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Heat is what destroys mushrooms more so than cold... I don’t think the cold would be too detrimental to the mushrooms that have already popped up.. There’s a YouTube channel called “Learn Your Land” and this guy really explains mushroom hunting very very well.

The trend I saw later last week is that the exposed mushrooms were starting to dry out. It's been a cold season overall and I've had better luck in the warmer, sunnier spots. However, these areas were beginning to dry out and so were the mushrooms, The ones that had any type of protection were still fresh. Today's rain is going to be a life saver for the remaining mushrooms.

Nothing up here for me...new at this. According to what i have read i have a great spot. But didn't see ANY mushrooms at all. I wish I had some expert looking help. Simon? I know once i find the 1st one I'll have a better handle on where they are exactly.
