Now the the temps are finally starting to drop, what are the chances that Kings are finally going to start coming into the harbors in decent numbers?

If you're looking for zombies, they are loaded in Waukegan. You got a chance for cohos too.

Don't forget about steelhead. I'd float some spawn or a cooked shrimp for them. There were many steelies caught that were in the mid teens this year. This late in the year, that would be my target. :winker

Thanks for the idea. I'm new to fishing the lakefront so I appreciate the advice. For what I spent on gear this fall, I would like to get some return out of it.

25-30 count cooked shrimp, 3 to 3 1/2 feet under a float. I use one treble hook with two trebles into the shrimp, one barb exposed. No need to set the hook, they swallow it. I'd cast for Kings with one rod, and set another with the float. Make sure the float rod is secured so it doesn't get pulled into the water. Can't beat Aldi for the price on a bag of shrimp.

Zombie Nation at Waukegan yesterday. Snaggers our in full force. I kayaked the harbor for about 3 hours and not a bump. But the water temps are getting close to steelhead friendly, and with the rivers up, they may be making a push very soon...

Well, snaggers are for sure out in full force, and this is why fishing is not allowed in the harbor.

The snag hook and braided line that might as well have been steel cable, was hooked into my cover and isinglass. :po :po :po

This is why we can't have nice stuff.

Idiots. That really stinks, Tom. Hopefully no serious damage? I fear for my life sometimes when I launch my yak there.

Boy that sucks! It just takes one bad apple... I'm surprised people get away with what they do there. Sorry to see that, Tom.

Anyone that does that deserves several well placed kicks to the nuts.

25 to 30 count. About the size of your thumb. I pull the tail off. 1lb bag at Aldi is like $5. Keep cocktail sauce handy if the fish aren't biting. :winker
